PvP - Player versus Player

PvP - Player versus Player

Age of Conan sports a number of choices for the PvP player, everything from casual, instant fun minigames to massive siege battles to an entire PvP server with friends to make and foes to kill.

Massive PvP/Siege PvP

pvp

Head out to the Border Kingdom with your guild, or hire yourself out for pay, and wage epic battles for control of player-owned battlekeeps. There are a limited number of these battlekeeps on each server, meaning combat will be fast and furious, and the benefits of owning one mean guilds will fight tooth and nail to keep theirs (or take away someone else’s!)

PvP Minigames

pvp

Age of Conan’s PvP minigames are intended as “pick up and play” fun, something easy to get into solo or with a group of friends, a way to hop right into the action when you want something fast and furious, more akin to an FPS match than traditional MMO combat.

Age of Conan’s PvP minigames include:

  • Capture the SkullYou will join one of two teams with the goal of capturing the opposing side’s skull as many times as possible. They will, of course, not take kindly to this and will try to stop you.
  • Team AnnihilationYou will join one of two teams, with the goal being to kill as many players on the opposing team as you possibly can. Of course, they’ll be trying to do the same to you.

Searchable Minigames

Age of Conan features a powerful system for PvP mini-games! We have developed new enhancements to the search tool that will make it considerably easier to locate mini-games and get in there quickly. Players will now see how many players have signed up for any of the mini-games (according to your tier), and players will also be able to sign up to and join any of the mini-games that start first. This will make it easier and quicker to get in!

PvP Resources

pvp

We've introduced twelve new resources known as PvP resources, and these are only be available in the Border Kingdoms, Cimmerian End. Building and repairing battlekeeps will require these PvP resources and they can be obtained in two ways: harvesting them from the nodes available in the Border Kingdom, or killing a player and looting their PvP resources. Resources found other places in the game world will not be usable when it comes to building and repairing battlekeeps.

Player Looting (Resources)

The resources themselves, and the materials, may drop in PvP. This also means a player carrying them has a chance to lose them to another player. This should definitely keep you on your toes next time you venture into the Border Kingdom, and bringing a friend might be a good idea!

PVP Consequence System – The Notoriety System

pvp

The PVP consequence system aims to bring even deeper meaning to PVP and introduce real consequences for your actions. Players will now run the risk of becoming a criminal or even a murderer depending on their actions in PVP. If you take part in anti-social actions in PVP, picking on weaker foes and such you will find yourself accruing ‘murder points’ that will eventually mean the attitudes of NPCs in the world will change towards you! Murderers will be outcast from society and will have to depend on new outlaw camps which can be found at remote locations in various different playfields. You will still have access to vendors and travel through these camps, but that will now come at a cost! A consequence for being a dangerous individual!

Notoriety Quests (PvP)

It will be possible for those evil doers to redeem themselves however. Murderers can try to solve specific quests to lower their murder points to one day receive amnesty and loose the status of a murderer. Until that time other players can hunt down and kill murderers to punish them for their crimes. Do you dare to try and live a life outside of the laws of the land? Do you have what it takes to be infamous, or indeed become famous for hunting down these most treacherous of player targets!

PvP Servers

pvp

For those who just can’t get enough PvP, Age of Conan features PvP-flagged servers, with rules allowing widespread PvP, and PvP-RP servers, which not only allow for lots and lots of PvP, but also feature a robust ruleset encouraging roleplaying and staying in-character.
